Information we collect
Survey responses. When you take part in a survey, we collect the answers you provide. Survey participation is voluntary, and you may decline to answer any question.
Contact and sample information. To invite people to participate in research, we use contact information (such as a telephone number) drawn from voter registration records and appended through commercial data providers. This information is used to reach a representative sample of the population being studied.
Limited technical information. When you complete a survey online, we may collect limited technical information (such as an IP address and browser type) solely to protect the integrity of the survey against automated or fraudulent responses.
We do not ask for, and you should never provide, payment card numbers, account passwords, Social Security numbers, or similar sensitive information in a survey. We will never request payment or account details in a survey.
How we use information
We use the information we collect to:
- Conduct and analyze survey research;
- Reach an appropriate and representative sample of respondents;
- Weight and report results in aggregate;
- Detect and prevent fraudulent, automated, or duplicate responses; and
- Honor opt-out requests and maintain our do-not-contact records.
Results are reported only in aggregate. We do not publish or deliver individual responses in a form that identifies you. Individual survey responses are retained only in aggregate, statistical form.
How we share information
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not sell or share mobile opt-in information or messaging consent with third parties or affiliates for their own marketing or promotional purposes.
We may share information in limited circumstances:
- Service providers. We use trusted providers for hosting, data storage, and message delivery, who process information on our behalf and are bound to protect it.
- Clients.We deliver aggregate, de-identified research findings to the client who commissioned a study. We do not provide clients with individual respondents’ identities or contact information as part of research deliverables.
- Legal requirements. We may disclose information if required by law or to protect the rights, safety, or property of American Polling Company or others.
Data retention
We retain survey data in aggregate, statistical form. Contact and sample information is used to conduct research and to maintain suppression and do-not-contact records.
Your choices
- Opt out of messages. You may opt out of text messages at any time by replying STOP. See our SMS and Messaging Policy for details.
- Decline to participate. Participation in any survey is entirely voluntary, and you may stop at any time.
- Requests about your information. Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access or request deletion of personal information we hold about you. To make a request, contact us at info@americanpollingandresearch.com. We will respond consistent with applicable law.
Children
Our research and website are not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the effective date above.
